This was the first race at the regatta centre for the year and we were greeted with great conditions for the morning races. First up was Raquel in a composite double with Lauren from Leichardt and racing up in under 23’s the girls performed very well to take out third place. Next up was the men’s under 16 double and though out sized, Miles and Jooya gave it their best and took out third. Angus was coming back from another holiday, but again he raced a well composed race to claw back the competition who pushed off early, to take out the win. Joel and Henry cruised to the final and though they were both not in their best condition, they performed admirably to take a fifth in the final.
The weather started to turn for the worse and the predicted storm started coming in very quickly but before it came in, a few more races for Nepean went ahead. Erik claimed a second in the under 21 lightweight single and Victoria won her heat in the under 16 single which would have put her in a good position if the final did go ahead.
Unfortunately racing was called off early due to the incoming storm and as the weather worsened we rushed to load and unload boats. A big thanks to everyone’s help on the day, particularly for packing up very quickly to get out of their promptly.
